Dear University of Texas Student,
The University of Texas at Austin Silver Spurs is accepting applications for Spring 2010 recruitment. Silver Spurs is an honorary service and spirit organization responsible for the caretaking and transportation of the University of Texas Longhorn mascot, BEVO. Since the organization’s founding in 1937, the organization has produced University of Texas leaders who give back to the school and community. Silver Spurs has a vast alumni network and offers a great opportunity to advance as an exceptional member of the UT student body. Our organization helps manifest the fellowship, service and purpose that embody this great University.
Along with caring for BEVO, we support all Longhorn activities both academically and spiritually. Our members are active participants in the Neighborhood Longhorns Program where we spend time tutoring students in the Austin area. The Silver Spurs also supports the student body by donating scholarships to achieving students in the spring semester based on their academic achievement and dedication to the University.
In our upcoming spring recruitment process we will receive applications from campus leaders who look to further the prestige of being a Silver Spur. To become a Silver Spur, applicants must have at least 42 in residence hours and be in second semester sophomore standing at the University with a minimum UT GPA of 2.50. From there, students will apply at the beginning of the semester, meet with a selection committee of current Silver Spurs, and go through the interview process.
Applications may be turned in between 8 A.M. and 4 P.M. from Thursday January 28th to Monday February 1st. Please turn in applications on the fourth floor of the SSB at the information desk.
