BEVO Endowment Donors

Pride, Tradition, Excellence and Honor are all characteristics shared by The University of Texas at Austin and its mascot BEVO. With the Eyes of Texas upon him, BEVO XIII was retired at the first home game in 2004 after sixteen years of service to the University, leaving a legacy as the winningest mascot in UT history. BEVO XIII was there for the famous "fourth and one," Ricky's run for the Heisman, Major's magical seasons and many more great memories.
To honor his retirement and legacy, The University of Texas Silver Spurs and the Texas Exes have teamed up to create the BEVO Endowment to benefit/support:
  • The ongoing care and transportation of future BEVOs
  • Scholarships for exemplary students at The University of Texas
  • The University of Texas Neighborhood Longhorn's Program (details below)
  • other philanthropic endeavors associated with The University of Texas
Our initial fundraising drive was a huge success and attracted several hundred donors; many of whose names are now on display in The Silver Spurs BEVO Center pictured above (and can also be seen at the link below). We greatly appreciate their generosity and continued support. The BEVO center is located in the first floor lobby of The UT Club inside Darrel K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Your contribution is still very much needed and can be recognized in the museum as indicated on the pledge card linked below. Help us keep BEVO on the sidelines and making public appearances for the fans and let his great traditions live on for generations to come by donating with the link below, or calling the Texas Exes at (512) 471-3822, (512) 471-8081.
The BEVO Endowment is a 501(c)3 organization, all donations are tax deductible to the extent your circumstances allow. Corporate matching programs are more than welcome.

Neighborhood Longhorns

The Neighborhood Longhorns Program (NLP), established in 1991, is an educational incentive program operated in partnership with the Austin Independent School District (AISD) in 18 Title 1 elementary and middle schools. Since its inception, thousands of UT students have tutored and mentored thousands of Austin children, helping them earn in excess of $500,000 in NLP scholarships throughout the years.
The major objectives of the program are to:
  • Improve overall grade performance;
  • Improve reading, math, science, and language arts skills;
  • Increase student retention rates; and
  • Provide scholarships for students to obtain a college education.
The program serves economically disadvantaged youth in grades 3 through 8 who are at higher risks of experiencing academic difficulties, including low grade performance, low performance on tests, low school attendance and higher rates of dropping out of school. Services are tailored to each school based on the school's TAKS scores and overall district report card rating. An academic plan is developed for each student by the teacher and the program coordinator based on diagnostic testing, the student's report card, and their individual TAKS scores.
